WASHINGTON — A new initiative to raise the D.C. minimum wage to $25 an hour could be on the ballot in November. On Monday, organizers launched the "DC Living Wage for All Campaign.” They said this policy reflects what it actually costs to live in D.C.

The current minimum wage in D.C. is $17.95 an hour, pay organizers said is far below the cost of living.

"I want to have a city where the people that work in the city can afford to eat in the city. Where the people that work in the city can afford to live in the city. If you don't have that, what's the point of doing business?” said Andy Shallal, the Founder and CEO of Busboys and Poets.

Shallal joined workers, community, organizers, and labor leaders to announce the "DC Living Wage for All" initiative.
