The Old West is getting crowded, at least on TV. On Netflix is yet another new Western series people are talking about, albeit not so kindly.
The Abandons is the newest show from Kurt Sutter, also known for creating the FX phenomenon Sons of Anarchy . Cut from the same cloth as Sutter's Sons of Anarchy —and very clearly after the audience that gave Taylor Sheridan his clout— The Abandons takes place in 1850s Oregon to follow an Irish immigrant with four adopted orphans who stands against affluent European aristocrats who've acquired her home in Oregon.
Despite the star power of Game of Thrones ' Lena Headey as the lead protagonist and The X-Files ' Gillian Anderson as her nemesis, The Abandons hasn't drummed up much fervor since its December 4 premiere on Netflix.
