A 66-year-old man from Forest Lake was killed after crashing his car and walking into traffic on a highway in the northern suburbs, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Just before 5:30 p.m. Sunday, a Chevrolet Cruze veered off northbound I-35E at County Road J in Lino Lakes and came to a stop in the median. Then the "driver got out of the vehicle before walking into the lanes of traffic" and was struck by a Honda CR-V, per an incident report.

The man's identity has not yet been released.

The other driver was not injured. Alcohol is not suspected in the crash.
