Las Cuatro Milpas, the nearly century-old restaurant in Barrio Logan known for its homemade tortillas and chorizo beans, may stay open longer than originally expected after its sale last month, the current owner says.

The restaurant confirmed last month that it had been sold after years of challenges , including minor health violations and missed tax payments. Family members, who have operated the Logan Avenue staple since founders Petra and Natividad Estudillo opened it nearly 100 years ago, had anticipated closing by the end of the month.

Customers like Michael Gomez, who drove down from Orange County to wait in line Monday, said the food is what keeps generations coming back.
