WHITSETT, N.C. — A Whitsett manufacturing plant will shut down by the end of 2026, eliminating 91 jobs, according to a WARN notice filed with the state.
Qualicaps, located at 6505 Franz Warner Parkway, will permanently close its facility on or before Dec. 31, 2026, the company reported. All 91 affected employees were notified on Dec. 2. Some workers are being offered transfers to positions within Roquette, the company’s parent organization. Qualicaps is not a union, and no bumping rights apply.
In the notice, the company said the hard gelatin capsule plant has faced “ongoing structural financial challenges” since its acquisition two years ago. Those challenges include pricing pressures and rising costs that have made long-term operations “unsustainable,” prompting a strategic realignment
