A kitschy candy store is saying goodbye to its post in the Portland suburbs.

Founded in California in 2007, Rocket Fizz has built a reputation around eccentric, sugary abundance — a spot where customers can choose from an array of novelty candy, retro toys and gag gifts, and dozens of funky bottled soda flavors. The chain operates more than 100 locations nationwide, three of which are in and around Portland.

But that number is about to go down. Later this month, Rocket Fizz will close its Beaverton candy shop, according to a sign visible outside the store Sunday.
