The storm system set to hit Minnesota on Tuesday has prompted new winter weather watches, warnings, and advisories, as the National Weather Service says 7+ inches of snow and winds in excess of 50 mph could create hazardous conditions on Tuesday.
It's a complex system, which can be seen in the alerts map below. People who get the heavy snow in central and northern Minnesota may not get the extreme wind gusts that could create a ground blizzard in southern Minnesota.
The winter storm warning is for two areas. First, in northeast North Dakota and northwest Minnesota, and then in central/east-central Minnesota, including the far north metro's Anoka County.
