WEST FARGO — A 23-year-old West Fargo police officer was arrested early Sunday, Dec. 7, on suspicion of DUI after going off the road in Cass County.

According to the West Fargo Police Department, Luke Joseph Schany, of Fargo, was arrested after Cass County sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash.

A vehicle had veered off the road and slid into a nearby ditch, West Fargo police said. At the scene, deputies determined Schany was involved in the crash. There were no other vehicles or individuals involved.

West Fargo Police Chief Pete Nielsen was notified of the arrest and will oversee an internal investigation, police said. Schany will be placed on paid administrative leave during the internal investigation.
