COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Division of Police is investigating after a 41-year-old woman's death in September was ruled a homicide.
On Sept. 10, officers with the Columbus Division of Police were called to a home in the 5500 block of Englecrest Drive, located on the city's southeast side, around 3:25 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers found a woman, later identified as Michaela Medek, who was critically injured. She was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead on Sept. 14.
An autopsy was later completed by the Fairfield County Coroner's Office. On Nov. 15, the coroner ruled Medek's cause of death as blunt force trauma and the manner of death as homicide.
Police said her death is being investigated as a potential domestic violence incident.
