President Donald Trump backed away from his comments last week vowing to release the footage of the military’s Sept. 2 strike on a boat in the Caribbean and a follow-on attack that killed survivors.
When asked by a reporter Monday, Trump denied that he agreed to release the video, saying: "I didn't say that. You said that, I didn't say that."
“Whatever Hegseth wants to do is OK with me," he added.
But last Wednesday, Trump said, “Whatever they have, we’d certainly release. No problem."
The president on Wednesday also seemed to acknowledge that the boat was capsized when the survivors were hit.
“I saw the video. They were trying to turn the boat back to where it could float,” he said. “We don’t want to see that because that boat was loaded up with drugs.”
