HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) - A Hartford non-profit pet food pantry is asking for donations to help families keep their pets during tough times.
Aid A Pet accepts donations to help families maintain pet ownership when finances are tight.
“It’s very expensive to maintain pet ownership,” said Lorie Reardon, founder of Aid A Pet. “The program here allows one to not have to surrender their pet.”
As a community dietitian, Reardon said she met patients who were malnourishing themselves by sharing what little food they had with their pets.
“All family members, whether they have four legs or two legs should have good nutrition ability,” Reardon said.
