EAST HAVEN, Conn. (WFSB) - A section of Kimberly Avenue will be closed to through traffic starting Wednesday as the town moves to address what officials call one of the most dangerous intersections in the shoreline community.

The town will install reflective barriers to turn the eastbound approach to Kimberly Avenue between Forbes Place and Kimberly Avenue Extension into a cul-de-sac. The change is designed to reduce crashes at the intersection where three stop signs create confusion for drivers, while traffic coming off Route 1 flows freely without stopping.

East Haven made the decision following public hearings, observations from engineers and police, and analysis of crash data showing 112 accidents in the area during a two-year period. Of those crashes, 76 occurred directly at the Kim
