AMES, Iowa (KCRG) - Iowa State football introduced Jimmy Rogers as its new head coach Sunday, marking the beginning of a new era for the program, after Matt Campbell left to take the same job at Penn State.
Rogers moved to Ames after spending just one year at Washington State. He said he wanted to be closer to family - his wife is from South Dakota. He also noted he wanted to pursue championships on the field.
“Meeting with the team last night, an unbelievable culture that I just walked into with players that love each other, and you can tell with the spirit that is going to be unmatched,” Rogers said. “Hopefully - from the outside world - you don’t see much change, because this team is competitive and is driven to win the Big 12 championship and win championships moving forward.
