Ruben Amorim has issued an update on Matthijs de Ligt after the centre-back missed Manchester United ’s 4-1 win at Wolves .

It was the second game in a row that the defender had missed, having not played in the 1-1 draw with West Ham last week.

The Dutchman was ruled out of that game because of a “small thing”, according to Amorim on December 4, and the Portuguese said that he hoped to have the former Ajax man fit again for the trip to Molineux .

That turned out not to be the case, and de Ligt was nowhere to be seen in the matchday squad.

In his post-match press conference, Amorim remained tight-lipped about a potential return for the centre-back.
