BAR HARBOR, Maine — A dump truck became entangled in overhead power lines Monday afternoon, knocking out electricity to part of downtown Bar Harbor and forcing multiple road closures, according to Fire Capt. Chris Wharff.
The truck snagged the lines around 3:45 p.m. on Cottage Street near Mount Desert Street, Wharff said. The incident caused several utility poles and wires to snap. Versant Power crews responded, and the utility reported 14 customers without electricity as of late afternoon.
The Bar Harbor–Mount Desert Police Department said the damaged poles forced closures at the intersections of Mount Desert Street and Eden Street, Cottage Street and Eden Street, and West Street and Eden Street.
