New data revealed that around a third of individuals arrested by ICE in the first nine months of the Trump administration have no criminal record.
The data, from the University of California, Berkeley’s Deportation Data Project, showed that of the 220,000 people arrested, around 75,000 have no criminal record.
The agency has been busy since President Donald Trump took over in January, with top administration officials vowing to arrest and deport the “Worst of the Worst” undocumented immigrants.
“We’re looking for criminal aliens, and also if you’re a resident alien and you have a felony conviction, you can be set up for deportation,” Tom Homan, Trump’s border czar, told CNN.
The data does not include any arrests made by Border Patrol.
