FLORENCE, Ore. - The Oregon Coast Humane Society (OCHS) has made a significant move toward enhancing its animal services by purchasing 8.66 acres from Lane County for $500, according to OCHS officials.
OCHS officials said this purchase was unanimously approved by the Lane County Board of Commissioners on Dec. 2. OCHS has leased this land for 30 years, using it to house its current shelter located on Rhododendron Drive. Executive Director Elizabeth Thompson highlighted the urgent need for expansion during a recent presentation, citing space constraints as a major obstacle.
