Political prodigy Katie Fire Thunder (25), veteran Tanya Reinhardt (59) and politician J.P. Pomnichowski (57) are an all-women Montana-raised applicant pool of former Montana State University students seeking final appointment from the Gallatin County Commission to the open House District 59 seat.
The position was vacated by Ed Stafman, who resigned in November. Staffman cited a desire to spend more time with his family when he stepped down. The county commission will choose Staffman’s replacement from the trio selected by the 27-member Gallatin County Democratic Central Committee next Tuesday, Dec. 16. The nomination process has not occurred in Gallatin County in more than a decade, according to officials.
