Kelowna city councillors were eager Monday to start their month-long Christmas break.
For the second straight meeting, council deferred hearing a presentation from staff about ways in which city streets are being made safer.
The deferral motion arose because council was scheduled to meet Santa, and the BC Transit charity bus, outside City Hall at 3 p.m. on Monday. “That’s the most exciting thing today,” said Coun. Maxine DeHart.
Council didn’t want to have to return to the chambers to hear the last remaining item on the agenda. When Mayor Tom Dyas canvassed councillors’ for their willingness to defer the item until January, he noted all of them were rapidly nodding their heads. “Like a bunch of woodpeckers!” Dyas laughed.
Council won’t meet again until Jan. 12.
