BOSTON —

Parents and teachers of Dorchester's Henderson Inclusion School rallied against its proposed closure ahead of a Boston School Committee vote next week.

"We're fighting against the idea that one teacher in a classroom with 28 kids of diverse abilities and diverse language access is actually inclusion," said Anna Golden, a parent and teacher at the Henderson school.

The Henderson Inclusion School features a unique model in which students with disabilities learn in classrooms alongside peers with and without disabilities.

"There's no reason to dismantle our community," Golden said.

The proposal to close and merge some Dorchester schools comes from Mayor Michelle Wu's administration.
