One person has died and a second is fighting for their life after a horror crash in Saddleworth . A Fiat 500 smashed into a bungalow in the village of Diggle shortly before 9:20am yesterday morning (Monday, December 8).

Police said the vehicle was travelling southeast along Dorset Avenue and that as the driver approached the junction with Huddersfield Road, 'the vehicle crossed the junction' and hit the building.

All three emergency services attended the scene immediately afterwards with a large cordon being put in place.

A passenger in the car, aged 81, died at the scene, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have now confirmed. The driver, aged 75, suffered 'life-threatening' injuries and remains in a critical condition in hospital, they added. View 3 Images
