RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Reno Works program is designed to find people who are homeless and help them get back into the workforce by going through a 12-week program. Those involved in it work with Reno Public Works while being helped through the process of finding employment.
“I think the most important thing is this really is a hand-up and it’s not a hand-out,” said Kathleen Taylor of the Reno City Council. “The participants that are involved in this program are really interested in making a change in their life.”
The City of Reno and Volunteers of America team up to make Reno Works happen. Monday’s graduating class was the 20 th .
“It’s helped me get out of homelessness and helped me learn job skills and what good work ethic is,” said Sarah Lombardi, one of the ten graduates.
