BOISE, Idaho — A Caldwell High School student was taken to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle Monday morning. Officials say the student is expected to recover, but want to highlight safety.

The Caldwell School District (CSD) said Monday that the student was hit while crossing the street at Indiana Avenue near Caldwell High School. The student was taken to a nearby hospital for a medical evaluation.

"Our thoughts are with the student and their family, and our building administration is staying in close contact with them to offer support," CSD told KTVB.

The Caldwell Police Department stated the student is expected to recover and said in part, "We're grateful they're recovering, and we're urging our community to help prevent future accidents."
