GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - On Monday, Gulf Coast Community Ministries distributed coats and camping supplies to homeless individuals at Feed My Sheep in Gulfport as temperatures dropped during the holiday season.
The faith-based nonprofit organization provided winter gear to help people without shelter stay warm during cold weather. The outreach included hot meals featuring a cooked hog.
“It’s just what Christ did for us. We’re doing it for them,” said Marcio Borguezan, who is leading the effort.
Ron Lewis, who has been homeless for several months, received supplies during the distribution. He said surviving without money has been difficult.
“Day by day, when you don’t have any money, you know you’re trying to survive,” Lewis said.
Lewis said his truck and dog are his only comforts this
