Clackamas County sheriff’s deputies shot at a Wilsonville 19-year-old Friday after they say he charged at officers with an axe.

The Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office identified the man Monday as Matthew Evan Cabril, 19. He is currently in critical condition at OHSU Hospital, officials said.

Officers initially responded to a call about a “domestic disturbance involving a moving vehicle” near Southwest Stafford Road and 65th Avenue in unincorporated Clackamas County on Friday evening, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said following the incident. When they arrived, Cabril, the driver, “unexpectedly exited the vehicle wielding an axe overhead and ran towards the deputies,” the district attorney’s office said.
