Railway passengers have been told to expect major delays after an incident in the Wimbledon area closed some train lines and disrupted others.

Train services between Surrey and London were disrupted by the emergency on Monday, December 8. All power to the track needed to be switched off in the affected area, causing major delays .

The exact nature of the incident is currently unknown, but a London Ambulance Service spokesperson said a man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Networks impacted include Great Northern and Thameslink, South Western Railway and Milford Surrey and Godalming. National Rail said delays can be expected into the morning.
