SALT LAKE CITY — A human skull was stolen from a protected ancient burial site in southern Utah.
The Utah School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration is seeking the public’s help in identifying the person or persons responsible.
According to the Trust Lands Administration, investigators from the Attorney General’s Office became aware of the incident after viewing social media.
State archeologists later visited the site near Kanab and determined a human skull had been removed.
Joel Boomgarden, the Trust Lands Administration’s lead archeologist, said they would not be releasing any images at this time or IDing the site to protect the site from further damage.
