TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - A former Tucson high school teacher has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison after pleading guilty to attempted sexual exploitation of a minor.

James Badger, a former teacher, was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison and two decades of probation for two counts of child exploitation of a minor under 15. The sentencing took place at Pima County Superior Court, where Judge Casey McGinley presided.

Before learning his fate, Badger spoke for more than 10 minutes, discussing his extensive reading in prison, his self-esteem issues and his time as a teacher.
