LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – Emplify Health by Gundersen is taking proactive steps to address the rising violence against healthcare workers.

On Monday afternoon, the organization hosted a panel discussion focused on the growing issue.

Local healthcare leaders, legal experts, and law enforcement officials joined the conversation to strengthen communication between agencies and improve response strategies when incidents occur.

“Throughout the nations, we’ve seen an increase—really since about 2019—of more violence, both physical and verbal, in healthcare in particular,” said Chris Eberlein, emergency medicine physician and EMS Director at Emplify Health by Gundersen. “So, it’s just something we’re trying to get ahead of and work on making our hospital both safe for patients and staff.”
