With an atmospheric river predicted to bring widespread moderate to heavy rain and gusty winds to Western Washington, the South County cold weather shelter will be open Tuesday, Dec. 9.
The shelter is located at Maple Park Church, 17620 60th Ave. W.
According to an anouncement from Snohomish County Human Services, sharp rises will occur on area rivers, with some reaching flood stage on Monday evening. There is a high of river flooding throughout the region.
Usually, cold weather shelters are open when temperatures are forecast to be at or below 34 degrees. The shelter was scheduled to be open Dec. 8 as well as Dec. 9 due to flooding concerns.
