CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - THC-infused food is gaining traction in Charlotte, but current hemp laws prevent restaurants from serving the products directly to customers.
Instead, establishments sell THC-infused items that customers must prepare themselves at home.
Mike Libretto, owner of Libretto’s Pizza, has been in the pizza business for 20 years and decided to expand into THC-infused products.
“I’ve been in the pizza business for 20 years, and I just thought, if I can make a pizza, I can make an infused pizza,” Libretto said.
Libretto’s THC-infused pizzas are made and tested off-site, then sold to customers frozen.
“So the end user takes it home, puts it in the oven, cooks it at 420 degrees, and enjoys it at home,” Libretto said.
