Delhi’s air quality remains a serious concern, with no relief expected in the coming days. The capital, however, registered a ‘poor’ AQI of 293 on Tuesday, December 9, after reeling under the ‘very poor’ category on Monday. Amid a slight improvement in the pollution levels, a cold wave and smog gripped the city during the early morning hours.

Pollution levels are, however, likely to deteriorate, slipping into the ‘very poor’ or ‘severe’ range in the coming days. Several monitoring stations recorded AQI readings under the ‘very poor’ category today. The area around Ghazipur and Anand Vihar was covered by a layer of ‘toxic’ smog as the AQI plunged to 319 under the ‘poor’ category, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
