United States President Donald Trump said tariffs will be imposed on neighbouring Mexico if the country does not adhere to a water treaty signed eight decades ago.

Trump said in a post on Truth Social on Monday, December 8, that Mexico had violated the treaty which agrees for both countries to to share water from the Rio Grande and Colorado.

He said the country owes the US 800,000 acre-feet of water and demanded the release of 200,000 acre
