ALPHARETTA, Ga. — A metro Atlanta business owner claims she was racially profiled when she stepped into an Alpharetta bank for help. Alexis Vaughn said that simple trip to the bank quickly turned into a headache and heartbreak.
"It doesn't make any sense. It's outrageous. It should have never happened," Vaughn said.
Vaughn said she went to Ameris Bank on Windward Parkway in Alpharetta to get a new debit card because the one tied to her business account wasn't working.
After waiting for some time, she checked in with the teller, who told her she contacted corporate and looked up her business on the Secretary of State's website. Vaughn said her businesses have never been looked up on the Secretary of State's website while banking, and said when she asked the teller why she was looking up
