HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Immigration advocates testified at the state capitol Monday that the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown is expected to accelerate in Hawaii, with many arrested individuals having entered the country legally.

The advocates and attorneys said immigrants are being moved between detention centers in different states, making it difficult to exercise their rights to defend themselves.

“You got a speeding ticket, but why are you being transferred in and out of states and then ending up in Honolulu with convicted felons?” said Bettina Mok, Executive Director of The Legal Clinic, a non-profit legal resource for immigrants.
