Rhode Island is getting the sort of mind-numbing cold that can spell disaster for old New England homes: frozen pipes.
Temperatures in the Ocean State are expected to be well below normal, according to the National Weather Service Boston.
Today, is expected to have a high of 27 degrees, but drop to 12 at night. Temperatures are expected to break freezing on Tuesday with a high of 34 and continue to rise on Wednesday to a high of 46. Though, there is a chance of both rain and snow of Wednesday in Providence, according to NWS.
After a small peak on Wednesday, temperatures are expected to drop back down into the 30s and 20s. On Saturday, a chance of snow returns to the forecast.
With temperatures this cold, the annual risk of freezing pipes begins again.
