The National Investigation Agency on Tuesday conducted searches inside the Mattan forest area of Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir after investigators found that the main accused in the Delhi terror conspiracy had allegedly carried out an explosive trial there while preparing for a major bombing plan in the capital.
NIA teams, assisted by Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF personnel, escorted Dr Adeel Rather and Jasir Bilal Wani to the Mattan woods to re-create and pinpoint locations used for the alleged trial of explosives. Investigators recovered material consistent with an attempted blast experiment, including a damaged gas cylinder at one of the spots, sources told reporters. The searches are part of a wider probe into the “white-collar” terror module linked to the Red Fort car-bombing.
