HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - American Nuts LLC has issued a voluntary recall of Hawaiian Macadamia Nut Co. Baking Nuts sold at Costco’s Hawaii Kai warehouse due to potential salmonella contamination.
The recall affects 20-ounce packages of item #1840464 with lot code 307HMNC25L3, purchased between Nov. 29 and Dec. 4.
The company announced the recall in cooperation with the Food and Drug Administration after discovering the presence of salmonella in the product.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, salmonella is bacteria that infect people who swallow it.
It is most common in contaminated food, said health officials.
Symptoms include diarrhea, stomach cramps, headache, nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite.
