Normally the "S" word people hate to hear in golf is "shank." These days, the scary "S" word for PGA Tour event might be "scarcity."
Creating a scarcity of tournaments, and in turn a greater demand for the surviving events, seems to be at the heart of major changes coming to the PGA Tour as early as 2027. Since we know that some tournaments, like the four majors, the Players Championship, the seven remaining signature events and the FedEx Cup playoffs events probably aren't going anywhere, any downsizing would seem to come from the regular events on the tour.
