Immigration lawyers say Afghan men who had been checking in regularly with U.S. authorities are now being detained in growing numbers after last month’s shooting of two National Guard soldiers near the White House, according to a new Associated Press report.

The crackdown comes on top of earlier moves to halt Afghan immigration processing in the wake of the attack.
