Albuquerque voters will choose the city’s next mayor in a runoff election Tuesday, marking the end of a race that has grown contentious in recent weeks as candidates tussle over the issues of crime and homelessness.
Mayor Tim Keller is seeking a third term, while challenger Darren White, a former Bernalillo County sheriff, hopes to oust Keller and build a “tough-on-crime” administration.
Races for two City Council seats — one each in Districts 1 and 3 — will also be settled during the runoff.
