Hanukah, or Festival of Lights, is one of the happiest celebrations, commemorating the defeat of Antiochus of Syria by the Maccabees over 2,000 years ago. It celebrates the miracle of the synagogue lamps, which burned for eight days and nights on a one day’s supply of oil.
