A man armed with a bloody knife was arrested in Maryland after a violent carjacking attempt that left a Lancaster victim with a life-threatening stab wound, the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office announced on Monday, Dec. 8.
Manolo Felix Martinez, 23, of Lancaster, is accused of stabbing a 32-year-old man during a street fight that erupted along the 200 block of Dauphin Street on the evening of Saturday, Oct. 11, according to the DA’s office.
The victim testified that he suffered a stab wound to his chest and was rushed into life-saving surgery after arriving at a local hospital, where he remained for six days, authorities said. During last month’s preliminary hearing, the victim lifted his shirt to show his surgical scars to the court.
Eyewitnesses told investigators that Martinez and the victim were arguing shortly before midnight when a fight broke out. The victim testified that he was trying to leave in his vehicle when Martinez approached, demanded he get out, and stabbed him once he stepped from the car.
Lancaster City Police Officer Matthew Odenthal testified that Martinez was found in Maryland with a bloody knife when he was taken into custody.
Judge Clark Bearinger ruled on Nov. 17 that the case will proceed to the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas on a charge of Felony Aggravated Assault. Martinez remains in Lancaster County Prison without bail after being deemed an extreme flight risk, authorities said.
Assistant District Attorney Sarah Hansen is prosecuting the case.
