One of Northumberland 's quietest railway station's passenger numbers have increased amid a demand for more trains from residents and a local councillor. Chathill Station has seen its users go up by around 25% over the last year, according to data by the Office of Rail and Road.

The figures, released on December 5, were collected between the period of April 2024 and March 2025, with 1,580 passengers recorded, up from 1,264 in the previous 12 month cycle. This positive news has been welcomed by members of the local community, and has renewed their calls for further services to come to the area.
