The city of Akron has reached a tentative agreement that includes wage increases with the local firefighters union and employees represented by the Civil Service Personnel Association (CSPA).

Akron City Council voted 12-0 Dec. 8 to implement and fund wage increases for both unions identical to those bargained for by Akron police: a 5% increase in 2025, 4.5% increase in 2026, and 4.5% in 2027. Similarly, both Akron Fire and CSPA will see modest changes to health insurance beginning in 2026 which will slightly increase the employee contribution.
