James Cameron recalled that he received pushback from the studio when he decided to expand the number of Avatar sequels from three films to four. Following the record-breaking success of Avatar (2009), Cameron established a dedicated writer’s room to map out the next three sequels and continue the expansive storyline.
Cameron, in an interview with Discussing Film , emphasised that the initial plan to develop three sequels ultimately expanded to four. “We were working on three scripts and then it turned into four.
