As Storm Bram gears up to batter the country, the Met Office has extended its amber and yellow weather warnings. With Scots being warned that travel conditions could be "dangerous", the forecaster is urging people to prepare to protect their properties and themselves from injury. ‌

Originally set to end at midnight tonight (December 9), the Met Office has extended its amber weather warning in the north west of Scotland until 3am tomorrow (December 10). This is due to a "very strong" spell of winds hitting the country, accompanied by heavy rain. ‌

The amber warning is forecast to impact the Highlands, as well as Argyll and Bute, as gusts of 70-80mph are expected quite widely. However, there is a chance that a few places are expected to be exposed to winds
