COVINGTON, Ky. —
The Freestore Food Bank and St. Elizabeth Healthcare are teaming to distribute 1,500 holiday meals to families in need during a drive-through giveaway at St. Elizabeth's Covington campus on Tuesday.
Food pantries across the region say there has been a surge in demand for food, sparked by rising food costs and the recent government shutdown. Advertisement
The holiday meal distribution marks the fourth year of the partnership between St. Elizabeth's and the Freestore Foodbank. This year's event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the St. Elizabeth Campus located at 1500 James Simpson Jr. Way in Covington.
Volunteers kicked off events on Monday, with hundreds of meal box deliveries to senior centers across Northern Kentucky.
