A time capsule from the 60s has been found buried in the rubble of a Scots church razed by a deliberate fire. The discovery was made by a demolition crew tasked with clearing away the burnt-out remains of St Mungo's Church in Cumbernauld. A mysterious metal canister was found after being placed in the lower structure of the landmark building, where the foundation stone was laid in November 1964 – 61 years before it was deliberately set on fire. The stone was laid by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth's representative General Sir Richard O'Connor, who served as Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland that year.
