Matt Gutman is leaving ABC News for a new post at CBS News , where he will be chief correspondent, reporting across the network as well as lead correspondent for 48 Hours.

Gutman also will contribute to future seasons of 60 Minutes , and will serve as fill-in anchor. He will start in Jan. 5 and will be based in Los Angeles.

Gutman’s hire is one of the first under new editor in chief Bari Weiss, who has been tasked by new owners Paramount-Skydance to overhaul the news division. Puck first reported on his move.

Gutman is currently chief national correspondent for ABC News, where he has worked for the past 20 years. He was on the ground in Israel the day after Hamas’ attack on the country, and reported on the war in Gaza over the following 18 months. Gutman has been based in Los An
